About Common Hill Wood

A 14.32ha scheme, south of Ibstock, which links with other new woods to create a large swathe of woodland.

The site is very visible from the surrounding villages of Battram, Ibstock and Ellistown and is crossed by two well used public rights of way. The Miners Way footpath runs along the northern edge of the site.

Planting comprises mixed broadleaves, widely spaced poplars and some conifers for commercial production. A large wetland area and pond provide habitats for wildlife, as do new hedgerows and bat boxes.
