About Sandhills Lodge
The woodland sits in a very sensitive area of Charnwood, and incorporates two Planted Ancient Woodland Sites (known as PAWS) that are being restored to broadleaved woodland by the removal of planted conifers. Land adjacent to the stream has been left unplanted to act as a buffer strip to the adjacent grassland, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
A new dedicated footpath through the site links to an existing footpath on adjoining lands and so creates a circular walk.
