Alongside our partners, we are pleased to support talented individuals through the GO GOLD Funding Programme.
The aim of GO GOLD is to support local, talented athletes, including those athletes who are being recognised by their National Governing Bodies as being our future Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth athletes and potential medal winners.
GO GOLD also now operates a means testing system, offering financial support to athletes who can demonstrate a financial need for the funding.
Applications for 2020/21 GO GOLD Funding are now closed. Successful applicants will be contacted at the end of February 2020.
Please find below eligibility criteria for GO GOLD Funding. Please note that GO GOLD no longer features a tiered funding system. Funding will be allocated at the panel's discretion, based on factors including financial need and athletic performance. Full information can be found in the Criteria below.

Levels of Funding
GO GOLD supports athletes competing at Regional, National or International Level in an Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth discipline and who can demonstrate a financial need for the support provided by GO GOLD.
GO GOLD is funded by Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council and Rutland County Council. All eligible applicants will be considered by a panel made up of specialists across the county.
Please note that GO GOLD no longer features a tiered funding system. Funding will be allocated at the panel's discretion, based on factors including financial need and athletic performance.
Performance
Unfortunately we no longer offer Performance level grants.
GO GOLD is also now working in partnership with 'Everyone Active Sporting Champions'. As a result, those athletes who are unsuccessful with financial support from GO GOLD may be eligible to receive financial support and/or free leisure centre access from Everyone Active. Relevant applications will be forwarded on for consideration.
Similarly, applications may be forwarded on to the athlete's local authority for local grant consideration.

Hero or Heroine – David Beckham was my role model when growing up, I admired his resilience to setbacks and always thought he conducted himself respectfully. As I've got older, I also appreciate what he's done to develop football/sport in general across the world.
