Mental Health and Wellbeing
We know that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England (Mind) and 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England (Mind). The benefits of physical activity on mental health are widely understood, with activity contributing to happiness and improved self-esteem, reduced stress, anxiety and depression (Active Lives Survey 2021).
Clubs play a vital role in providing space to be active and social and create a purpose in someone's day, which cannot be understated. Sessions and clubhouses will provide a safe and friendly environment for many. Here is Colin, one of our Let's Get Moving Champions talking about this.
