About Club Development Officer

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Develop and deliver community sessions, taking the lead for Mixed Ability Rugby, Touch Rugby and developing new rugby offers such as Walking Rugby.
  • Liaise with the club Coaching Coordinator, to develop coaching structures for the club's teams and support the development of volunteer coaches.
  • Deliver various programmes and festivals to primary schools, secondary schools, and community groups.
  • Lead the All School programme on behalf of the club, developing relationships with local schools to support the recruitment and transition of new players.
  • Support the club's youth development plan, creating new teams and training/supporting volunteer coaches
  • Organise, promote and deliver community coaching camps during school holidays.
  • Promote York RI RUFC with local universities.
  • Develop partnerships with key organisations to ensure longevity of the post, submitting funding applications as required.

Must have:

  • Enthusiasm and passion for developing rugby and individuals
  • Experience of coaching rugby and the willingness to deliver sessions to a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and ability levels.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of working in a dynamic team environment
  • Strong promotional skills and the ability to manage own workload
  • Ability to work as part of a team and meet organisational demands
  • Ability to create and maintain strong working links and relationships
  • Ability to work to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to make decisions and use own initiative
  • Self-motivated, organised, enthusiastic and honest personal attributes
  • Knowledge of local and national rugby initiatives.
  • Current UK Driving License
  • Access to a car
  • Appointments are subject to Enhanced DBS checks.
  • ERCA (England Rugby Coaching Award) & Play It Safe (or ability to complete on appointment)

In addition to the duties which this job normally entails the Employee may from time to time be required to undertake reasonable additional or other duties.

Hours will vary throughout the year, the club will offer an hourly rate of £15, plus expenses.

In addition we have partnered with White Rose Rugby to give the successful applicant the opportunity to also join their team and potentially combine two part time roles (subject to interview with White Rose). For the right candidate the club may offer a contribution towards further coaching qualifications.
