About MSc Studentship - Basketball

This 2 year post arises from the continuing expansion of the School of Sport & Exercise Science and is the continuation of an initiative to coach and mentor student athletes in a named sport (Basketball) and to contribute towards outreach, recruitment and sporting events, whilst also (to a lesser extent) supporting full time academic staff. The University has a clear focus on developing opportunities to develop student/athletes and this will form a significant part of this role.

The University of Worcester has a commitment to an inclusive approach to sport and offers a wide range of opportunities and experiences for students at both recreational and performance level. The Worcester Wolves currently have men's and women's NBL teams and a Women's Premier League Wheelchair Basketball team. The University basketball programme offers 3 BUCS competition teams in men's basketball, 1 BUCS competition team in both women's and wheelchair basketball and opportunities for students to play recreational basketball. Engagement with the women's BUCS and NBL teams as Head coach will be critical.

The post includes registration for the School's taught Masters Degree programme and the completion of this will be a requirement. Expertise is sought in the area of coaching science and candidates are invited to specify areas of specialism. The person appointed will be allocated a mentor who will oversee coaching, teaching and administrative aspects of the role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone seeking to break into a career in Higher Education, whilst operating as a Head coach in a well-organised environment
