About Health Partnership Manager

Job Summary

The postholder will lead the authority's work on health and wellbeing in tackling health inequalities and physical inactivity. The post has a distinct remit but is part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team which is well recognised for its ability to deliver innovative and effective work.

  • Coordinate the Authority's work on Health and Wellbeing.
  • Manage and be responsible for the development of health and wellbeing work and wider determinants of health work across the district.
  • Manage the delivery and development of health and wellbeing programmes across the District, and lead work on addressing physical inactivity and health inequalities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Development of policies and service plans which meet Committee and corporate objectives.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate staff and carry out any necessary supervision, appraisal, guidance and training.
  • To develop and implement effective management systems for the purpose of functional business control and administration throughout the span of responsibility.
  • To carry out all duties with regard to his/her health and safety implications, crime and disorder implications, safeguarding vulnerable people, data protection implications and their impact upon the Council's equal opportunities and sustainability policies.
  • Ensure work is produced of appropriate and consistent quality through the development of and compliance with appropriate systems and procedures.
  • Ensure enquiries from Councillors and the public are dealt with efficiently and courteously.
  • Provide expert advice, prepare reports and attend/participate in Council, Committees and Working Groups/Panels inter service, public and other meetings as required.
  • To contribute as required to the work of the Community and Planning Service including policy and strategy development and the supervision and management of projects.
  • Undertake such other duties commensurate with the experience of the postholder and the grading of the post as may be reasonably delegated from time to time.

The successful candidate will have an interest in, and be able to demonstrate experience in, improving health and wellbeing delivered through a community development and partnership orientated response.

They should be able to manage a wide and varied workload and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

The Health Partnership Manager post is jointly funded between South Derbyshire District Council and Derbyshire County Council Public Health.
