Mubarak from Leicester City
Physical activity has been a cornerstone of Mubarak's life, providing him with a wealth of benefits that he is passionate about sharing with others. As an avid runner, his journey in fitness began in 2016 taking up the Leicester Half Marathon. Since then it has profoundly shaped his daily life and overall wellbeing. Running is Mubarak's primary form of physical activity. Over the years, he has participated in numerous marathons, each one offering a unique challenge and a sense of accomplishment. These experiences have not only enhanced his physical endurance but have also provided a sense of community and belonging. One of Mubarak's favourite activities is participating in parkrun at Leicester Victoria. These weekly 5K runs are a fantastic way to engage with fellow runners, set personal goals, and enjoy the outdoors. The camaraderie and collective enthusiasm at these events are incredibly motivating, and he looks forward to them every week.
Mubarak is deeply committed to inspiring and empowering others in his community to embrace physical activity. He is currently on a quest to run the six world major marathons, a goal that fuels his passion and determination.
As a community lead for Muslim Runners (part of the Active Inclusion Network), Mubarak has had the privilege of encouraging individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to take up running. This role has allowed him to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their fitness level. By organising group runs and providing mentorship, he aims to break down barriers and show that running is accessible to all.
Mubarak also leads numerous Couch to 5K programs within his community and workplace, targeting individuals who have not previously run and helping them become more physically active. These programs are incredibly rewarding, as he witness participants transform their lifestyles and gain confidence in their abilities.
