Get Running with Leicestershire Local Runs

Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport (LRS) have launched a new way to run called Leicestershire Local Runs.

As part of the Run England initiative to get the whole nation running LRS is planning local led runs, guided by friendly Run England Run Leaders along scenic planned routes, for runners of all abilities.

Everyone is welcome to join in these fun led runs to discover some of the best places to run in Leicestershire, with the first two confirmed locations being Watermead Country Park in June and Victoria Park in July.

All runs take place on a Sunday morning at 10am and cost just £2 per person (car parking charges may apply for some locations).

Run Leaders will accommodate runners of all abilities and runs will last for no more than one hour or five miles in distance. Shorter distances will be available for beginners.

Beverley Hooper, Run England Recreational Athletics Activator, said: "Running in a group is a fun way to exercise. Our qualified run leaders will ensure everyone is welcome and will show people some great places to run."

The first Leicestershire Local Runs are confirmed as follows:

  • Watermead Country Park, Sunday June 9th, 10am, meet at King Lear's Lake car park
  • Victoria Park, Leicester, Sunday July 7th, 10am, meet at Granville Road car park

Book online at www.lrsport.org/running to reserve your place.
