14 Teams from across Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland took part in the Under 13 and under 15 Girls' Indoor Cricket Super-Series Finals this week, with Leicester Grammar School (Blaby & Harborough) being crowned champions in both competitions.

In the Under 13 competition, Hastings High School (Hinckley & Bosworth) claimed second place with Crown Hills Community College (East Leicester) coming third. Crown Hills Community College went one better in the Under 15 competition, coming second, with John Cleveland College (Hinckley & Bosworth) in third place.

The Super-Series Final saw six partnerships take part in the Under 13 competition and 8 take part in the Under 15 competition, with up to ten girls representing each partnership. The standard of play across the board was particularly high and all athletes taking part were a real credit to their schools and partnerships.

The 'Spirit of the Games' award went to Catmose College (Rutland) in the Under 13 competition and Ivanhoe College (Melton & Belvoir) in the Under 15 competition. Both of these teams displayed the values in which the "School Games" represents - Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief and Teamwork and were worthy winners of this award.

The event was supported by Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket, with Leicestershire CCC players Lewis Hill and Jigar Naik on hand to inspire the girls, as well as provide them with tips on how to improve their game. The competition also doubled as the regional finals of the Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket National Competitions.
