England Athletics launch #RunAndTalk week for World Mental Health Day

England Athletics have launched their #RunAndTalk week as they look to get more people involved in sport and physical activity in order to benefit their mental health.

The week runs from 8-14 October, coinciding with World Mental Health Day on October 10. It aims to get people into running, with the target a mile or more. Rather than going alone however, the week aims to get people doing so with friends or in groups, in order to talk and help to clear the mind.

England Athletics clubs and running groups will be holding special events throughout the week as they look to get new runners involved. Sport and physical activity is scientifically proven to have significant effects on a person's mental health, improving moods and decreasing the chance of depression and stress.
