Angling Trust makes 20 coaching bursaries available

The Angling Trust is providing 20 special "Coaching Bursary" awards of £2,500 each to clubs, local authorities, schools, fisheries and similar organisations to fund the cost of training coaches and the resources they use at coached sessions.

The awards aim to encourage more women, disabled and young people to become angling coaches, and will enable more people to be active in the outdoors, and boost participation numbers at local facilities.

Going fishing is a fantastic way for people who might not normally consider sport to take part in physical activity. It can be particularly useful in the treatment of physical and mental illness, rehabilitation from injury, or as a way of learning about the environment. These awards are part of our Angling Improvement Fund which re-invests Environment Agency rod licence income into diverse projects directly benefiting anglers. The application process is simple with guidance available on how to prepare the best possible bid.

Bursaries and funding is also available beyond coaching. By visiting the Angling Trust website, there are also applications open for facility improvement - Angling Improvement Fund.

Applications must be completed and sent by January 13th. To apply, please visit http://www.anglingtrust.net/landing.asp?section=1094&sectionTitle=Angling+Improvement+Fund
