Two Talent Workshops scheduled for next four months

There are two Talent Foundation workshops scheduled for April and June this year.

With two having previously been held, the next workshops are entitled:

  • Talent Across The Ages (25th April, 6:30-9:30pm, SportPark)
  • Getting Better, Better (13th June, 6:30-9:30pm, SportPark)

The first of the two will allow coaches to develop a style and explore the different ages that are present within talented athletes. Running on 25th April, the workshop will also provide the opportunity to discuss implications that could arise for you and your coaching.

The 'Getting Better, Better' workshop is less than two months later and will build on what has already been spoken and practiced earlier in the workshop series. Some concepts of talent development will be looked at and challenged, whilst also looking at implications for athletes and players.

Talent comes from a combination of ability, inter personal factors, external factors over time in a high quality learning environment which is supported by the coach.

Talent and Performance coaching is both rewarding and challenging, the complex nature of the environment creates superb interactions and opportunities for coaches to enhance their coaching practice, reflect upon their coaching philosophy, approach and behaviours to further enhancethe performers engagement and progress.

Coaches are supported by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport through numerous methods and programmes. One of those is the Talent Foundation Programme, which currently provides the opportunity for four coaches to develop and learn further. The GO GOLD Funding Programme also supports young coaches who have ambitions of helping others grow in sport.
