Introducing Premier League Primary Stars!

The Premier League has launched Premier League Primary Stars, an exciting learning programme for primary school girls and boys aged 5-11.

Using the inspiration and fun of sport to connect pupils' learning to the world around them, Premier League Primary Stars' wide-ranging resources supplement teaching with an array of multi-sport themed examples. The programme aims to inspire children to be active, and to develop the values and skills crucial to success in school and later life.

Premier League Primary Stars resources cover key topic areas for PE, PSHE, English and Maths, across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. These easy-to-use materials include activity ideas and worksheets, fun assemblies and teacher notes. Each resource also features supporting videos that use footage from the classroom, playground and football to bring the topic to life.

The programme is available for all primary school teachers and pupils in England and Wales, and all the resources have been developed in partnership with primary school teachers and subject experts.

The Premier League's values underpin the programme and encourage children to:

  • Be ambitious – work hard, be resilient and never give up on their goals
  • Be inspiring – set a great example to others
  • Be connected – cooperate with others and work well in a team
  • Be fair – embrace equality, be considerate and think of others

The digital materials also offer primary school teachers support and lesson guidance to improve their confidence and skills in teaching PE.

Richard Scudamore, Executive Chairman, Premier League added:
"We are very excited to launch Premier League Primary Stars, our new national education programme that will use the power and popularity of football to inspire children to work hard and enjoy English, Maths and a range of other subjects.

"Our clubs already do great work in primary schools, and Premier League Primary Stars will support and enhance that work with educational resources for teachers, books from celebrated children's authors, and much more.

"We want to support 10,000 primary schools in England and Wales by 2019 and we hope that our first national TV advertising campaign, including star names from our clubs, will capture the imagination of parents, teachers and children and encourage them to sign-up to Premier League Primary Stars."
