Double delight for Maplewell Hall in School Games Boccia

High quality Boccia action was on show at Loughborough University on 5^th May, as five sides competed across the MLD and SLD competitions.

Following on a month later than the Spring Championships which were also hosted at the university, three different schools made up the five sides as teams battled it out for School Games glory.

The sport of Boccia is one that continues to grow quickly and with it being accessible to all, the MLD and SLD finals had a high level of talent throughout.

Maplewell Hall School managed to pick up victories in both, with Birkett House acting as runners up. Ash Field Academy finished in a respectable third spot in the MLD.

There is still more to come with the Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games. Finals are still to be played in the Go-Ride Cycling, before the big Summer Championships will take place at the end of June.

The Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games, now in its seventh year, is part of the national 'School Games Programme' that is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire young people to take part in more competitive school sport. It is open to all young people aged 6-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds from every school across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.

Delivered locally by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) and the 10 School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs), the Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games provides schools the chance to boost their existing work in school sport to create a year-round calendar of competition for all students.
