Castle Donington RUFC Gets a Female Touch

Castle Donington RUFC is pleased to announce that, having received approval from the RFU, they have now created their first female Mini and Junior section.

The decision to create this new section followed an approach by several enthusiastic parents looking for a club for their daughters, and with a hope to extend the game of rugby into the wider community.

This new section of the club, called "The Diamonds", will be offering rugby to girls in both Primary and Secondary schools. We will be running 4 age groups, accommodating the following school years, U11 – years 5 and 6, U13 – years 7 and 8, U15 – years 9 and 10 and U18 – years 11,12 and 13.

The Chairman of the Club, Darren Summers said "This is a new and exciting opportunity for the club to take an alternative step forward. We welcome the girls into the club and hope that the local community will work with us to introduce the game of rugby to more girls".

The Club welcomes Nick Woodland as Head of the new Mini and juniors section who said "It is amazing the welcome and support that we have had from the whole club, and that kind of support is what you need to be successful. We will be working hard to repay that support by creating a girls section that can provide longevity for the club, for our club."

Diamonds Training: Castle Donington Community College Tuesday night and Spital Park Castle Donington Sunday morning.
