Young people set to discover the Olympic and Paralympic Values with the Values Awards from Get Set

Teachers and young people are set to be inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic Values with the launch of the Values Awards from Get Set, the official youth engagement programme of the British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association.

This Autumn term, the Values Awards will offer primary and secondary schools the opportunity to recognise and reward young people aged between 7 and 19 for their commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Values.

Young people will develop life skills, get active and learn how to become responsible citizens. These vital life skills are based on the Olympic Values of friendship, excellence and respect; and the Paralympic Values of inspiration, determination, courage and equality.

Before 2 February, for every student who completes one of the Values Awards, your school will be entered into a draw to receive exclusive prizes – including visits from multiple Paralympic Gold medallist Sophie Christiansen CBE or Rio 2016 silver medal-winning Rugby 7s star James Rodwell, one of five Samsung Tablets, signed athlete goodies or an exclusive Values Awards poster.

Students will work through three categories, comprised ofonline and offline activities and challenges
to help them build life skills, get active and become responsible citizens:

• Values Stars Award: engaging online activities introduction the Values (suggested age range 7-11)
• Values Champions Award: practical and online activities encouraging students to live the Values (suggested age range 11-14)
• Values Ambassadors Award: celebrating and rewarding young volunteers (suggested age range 14-19)

The Get Set Values Awards are curriculum-linked for PSHE, PSE, Citizenship and other related programmes of study for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as the broader delivery of values-based education.
