Unbeaten Rawlins extends their run to book their place into the next round in the Futsal Team Leicestershire Finals

The last of the Futsal Team Leicestershire finals welcomed 10 teams of years 10/11 girls to the Crown Hills Community College for a place in the next round. Each game lasted 8 minutes. On the evening, teams split into two group stages including:

Highlights saw Group 'A' and Group 'B' reflecting two very different outcomes with Group B only separating the top 3 teams be a single point. John Ferneley just missed out by having an inferior goal difference to Ashby School. Rawlins were the only team not to have lost a game within the group.

Group A saw Thomas Estley too strong for opposing teams with a well organised team edging past all their teams with 1-0 wins and a 1-1 draw. The score-line credits how tough each game was for the teams to progress into the play offs.

The two top teams from each group played each other in finals in the corresponding format:

1^st and 2^nd place finals:

1^st place Group A (Thomas Estley) 0
1^st place Group B (Rawlins Academy) 1

3^rd place finals:

2^nd place and 2^nd place Group A (Brookvale Groby Learning Campus) 3
2^nd place Group B (Ashby School) 2

Rawlins earned their spot in the next round by winning the Team Leicestershire Finals. It was a tense game with both teams playing safe without wanting to cause too many mistakes at the back. The magic moment came from a throwing with a nice one-two into the path of the winger, who smashed a low shot from the left angle of the goal with goalie parrying it only towards the striker who produced a cool finish in the top left corner.

The race for 3^rd was a totally different match to watch with each team having a pop at each other in front of goal, reflecting the high score-line. It was looking to be extra time, but Brookvale maintained the consistency to drive and score a last gasp goal within the final minute.
