Charnwood Lawn Tennis Club completes £125,000 facility development project

Over 100 people attended the official opening of the newly refurbished facilities at Charnwood Lawn Tennis Club at Nanpantan Sports Ground, Loughborough on Sunday 8th April following the completion of a £125,000 project to install new artificial clay courts and new floodlights for 7 courts.

The history of the club from its origins in the 1970's was outlined before an overview of the project and the cutting of the ribbon was performed by Geoff Brookes, Development Officer for the project

President of the club John Newton commented "Despite the fact that Mark Cox, through illness, was unable to attend, we have had a fantastic response from members of all ages to witness an exhibition doubles match, followed by participation in tennis across all courts."

Completion of the project is timely, given the start of the Leicestershire match season and the introduction of new programmes of coaching for players of all ages.
