Charnwood Lawn Tennis Club Court Refurbishment!

Charnwood Lawn Tennis Club, based at Nanpantan Sports Ground, has recently undertaken a major project to upgrade its playing facilities.

In partnership with Charnwood Borough Council, Sport England and the Lawn Tennis Association, 3 tarmac courts have been replaced with the latest all-weather artificial clay surface, deemed by coaches to be the very best surface to learn the game. New environmentally-friendly floodlights have been installed for these courts and the existing floodlights on a further 4 artificial grass courts replaced with the new lights. In addition to new perimeter fencing last year, the final work to be completed is the replacement of a further tarmac court. The official Opening of these new tennis courts and floodlights is on Sunday 8th April 2018 and will be performed by Leicestershire-born Mark Cox, who was a leading tennis player in the 60's, 70's and 80's, performing in Grand Slam events and for the Great Britain Davis Cup team.

President of the club John Newton commented "By prudent financial management and great teamwork, we have now created fantastic tennis facilities. This reflects our intention to provide the broadest tennis offering at junior, senior, female, male and veteran groups in the county"

The club hopes you will enjoy more tennis in 2018 and beyond with the spanking new surfaces and floodlights once the refurbishment work is complete.

The new facilities include:

8 all-weather courts

  • 4 x Savanna with floodlights
  • 3 x Clay with floodlights
  • 1 x Hard surface

The members have always kept the courts and surrounding grounds clean and tidy making it very pleasant for all to use.

The club opens and welcomes all to play in the new facilities, find out more about the club here!
