Volunteering Programme

Delivered in partnership with CoLab2 and funded by the Samworth Brothers Sports Opportunity Fund, a leadership programme for young people not in employment, education and training was organised.

The programme consisted of training courses and volunteering at a Multi Skills Festival and Sportsability competition. 5 young people went on to volunteer at the National School Games. A young person from the programme, Paddy won the Determination Volunteering Award at this event.

Paddy came on the programme after struggling to determine what he wanted to do. Being homeless prior to his 16th birthday, his main goal was finding his next meal and somewhere to sleep each night. Having tried a range of employment opportunities, Paddy enrolled on the programme and immediately loved it.

Paddy is now being supported to find a home and is applying to enrol on a 2 year Sports, Fitness and Exercise course at Leicester College. He's come a long way and it shows the power of sport in changing people's lives.

"The programme has helped me to define my path and know my own goals better than I thought I did."
