Why you should apply for GO GOLD Funding!

The aim of GO GOLD is to support local talented athletes who are being recognised by their National Governing Bodies of Sport as being our future Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games participants.

The GO GOLD Funding Programme which supports talented athletes has supported over 500 athletes from across 66 different sports within the last 11 years

Here are just a few key highlights to show last year's GO GOLD athletes excelling in their sporting category!

• Harriet West – Semi-finalist in the Commonwealth Games 2018 (North West Leicestershire)

The swimmer reached the semi-finals and just missed out on the 50m Butterfly final in a PB. Harriet gained valuable race experience by competing against some of the best in the world!

• Andrew Stamp - Silver Medal at Youth Olympic Games, Buenos Aires (Harborough)

Andrew flew out with the other 41 GB athletes and was lucky enough to attend the opening ceremony. He was the only trampolinist to represent the GB team and took part in the qualification, leading all the way to the semi-finals.

• William Bell – Selected for the 2018/19 Performance squad (Charnwood)

William has been selected onto the Performance Squad for next season, demonstrating a level of performance that could lead to inclusion on British Swimming's World Class Programme or to represent Swim England at senior level.

We want local athletes to rise to their full potential and feel it is important they have the opportunity, with the help of the GO GOLD funding programme.
