Lord Lieutenant's Award - Celebrating Young People in Sport!

The Lord-Lieutenant's award focuses on young people who have made a contribution to society, through four different categories, one of them recognising 'The Young Most Improved Sports Person of the Year'.

Nominations for the award are now open and they are asking people to nominate anyone between the ages of 13 and 19, who has made significant progress in the field of sport over the past 12 months; demonstrated promise, dedication and determination or exceeded expectations in their sporting performance, or made a big difference to a team.

A panel of judges chaired by the Lord Lieutenant will then judge all nominations that meet the award criteria and shortlist four young finalists for each award category.

Other awards on the night include Young Brave Heart of the Year, Young Volunteer of The Year and Young Artist of the Year.

Finalists and their families will be invited along to a special awards evening and dinner on Thursday, 2 May 2019, hosted by the Lord Lieutenant himself.

Category winners will be announced on the night, each of them receiving a prize to the value of £500, and runners up will receive a prize to the value of £100, and the overall winner chosen from the three categories will be presented with a special trophy.

If you know someone you feel deserves recognition in one of these four categories then click here to nominate them before Friday, 15 Feb.
