West Leicestershire Claim School Games Disability Sportshall Athletics title

Key Stage 2 Disability Sportshall Athletics School Games Super-Series Final

On 16th January, six schools competed with enthusiasm and positivity from all the athletes and young leaders. With everyone taking part in a competitive but extremely supportive spirit, with some athletes holding homemade banners to show support for their team mates!

Though it was Beaumont Lode Primary School from West Leicester who triumphed, with Blaby & Harborough in close second and Hinckley and Bosworth winning the Spirit of the Games trophy for demonstrating most the value of: passion, self-belief, respect, honesty, teamwork and determination.

2nd: Blaby & Harborough (Badgerbrook Primary School)

3rd: East Leicester (Humberstone Junior Academy)

4th: Hinckley & Bosworth (Burbage Junior School)

5th: Oadby & Wigston (Brocks Hill Primary School)

6th: North Charnwood (Mountfields Lodge Primary School)

The Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games, now in its seventh year, is part of the national 'School Games Programme'. It aims to keep competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best. It is open to all young people aged 6-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds from every school across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.

Delivered locally by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) and the 10 School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs), the Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games provides schools with the opportunity to enhance their existing work in school sport and create a year-round calendar of competition for all students.
