Hinckley & Bosworth Claim Double Victories at the Year 7 & 8 Sportshall Athletics Final!

Year 7/8 Boys & Girls Sportshall Athletics

On Tuesday 2nd April, 21 schools across nine different districts competed in the School Games Year 7 & 8 Boys/Girls Sportshall Athletics Final. There was some great sportsmanship and team spirit shown by all the teams spurring each other on during the afternoon!

After some very close relays Hinckley and Bosworth (St Martins CVA) efforts claimed the Year 7 Girls victory, with Rutland the Year 7 Runners-up and Oadby & Wigston taking third place. Hinckley & Bosworth (St Martins CVA) then took their second win of the afternoon in the Year 7 Boys competition, with East Leicester in second place (St Pauls) and Blaby & Harborough (Brockington College in third place. In the Year 8 girls final it was West Leicester who claimed the victory with, Rutland (Catmose College) in second place and Melton (Priory Belvour Academy) in third place. Oadby and Wigston (Wigston Academy) were the champions in the Year 8 Boys Final, with Hinckley and Bosworth (St Martins CVA) in second place and South Charnwood taking third.

Thew winners of the Spirit of the Games trophy for demonstrating most the value of: passion, self-belief, respect, honesty, teamwork and determination, were North West Leicestershire for the Year 7 Girls, Oadby & Wigston for the Year 7 Boys, Rutland for the Year 8 Girls and Boys.

Winners: Oadby & Wigston (Wigston Academy)

2nd Place: Hinckley & Bosworth (St Martins CVA)

3rd Place: South Charnwood (Cedar's Academy)

Year 8 Girls

Winners: East Leicester (St Pauls)

2nd Place: Rutland (Catmose College)

3rd Place: Melton (Priory Belvoir Academy)
