Local sport and physical activity groups to benefit from new local funding available

The inaugural year of the Mick George Sports Fund proved immensely successful and has prompted the local construction business to expand the value of support, and operating regions for which the Company will provide assistance, moving forward.

Mick George Ltd has struck a new partnership with Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport, which will permit additional applications throughout the majority of Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland. The funding is open to local sports clubs and organisations that meet the necessary qualifying criteria of supporting the delivery of sport and physical activity.

Projects must be located within the Leicester-Shire and Rutland area and must also be located in the funding area of the wider Mick George Community Fund.

Annette Kendrick, Sports Development Officer at Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport said: "Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport are delighted to be partnering with Mick George Ltd to offer this grant funding opportunity. It will prove invaluable towards helping people in Leicestershire be more active, more often.''

Locally there is £25,000 available for individual grants between £500 and £1,500, for capital community sports projects or developments, open to the general public. These could include, but are not limited too; changing room improvements, clubhouse renovations and training or facility maintenance equipment.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit registrations throughout the year, during the Rounds available. Round 1 is open until 25th June 2019.

Stuart Costello, Marketing Director of Mick George Ltd commented: "As a business, we're very proud of our community linkages. We're constantly seeking affiliation with likeminded groups, where we can combine to benefit residents within our operating localities.''

Costello continued: ''We've witnessed first-hand how our resources can help these often volunteer led initiatives, and we're sure that will be replicated in the new areas.''
