How to play cricket

Want to know more about the game and how to play it? Our dedicated how-to play section provides an in-depth guide to playing the game, along with tips and information to help you get into playing.

Ready to get cracking?

Below you'll find a list of the various stages of the recreational cricket pathway. Regardless of your age or ability, there will be something for you!

All Stars Cricket (for ages five to eight)

Are your kids interested in getting started with cricket? Enter All Stars Cricket.

The fully accredited ECB programme provides children with a great first experience of the game.

Designed for girls and boys from five to eight years of age, All Stars Cricket focuses on getting your child moving and having fun.

Your All Star will even get a backpack full of goodies to help them on their way!

Junior cricket (for ages nine-11)

The ECB aims to ensure all children continue their progress in cricket while always having fun.

With that in mind, we've created match formats that are inclusive and play to the abilities of the age group.

With a newly-defined Junior Pathway, your children will be able to move on from All Stars Cricket into a more structured form of the game.

Kwik Cricket plays a large part in this.

Open mainly to state primary and middle schools and specifically tailored for children up to the age of 11, Kwik Cricket will enable your child to develop their skills in a safe, enjoyable environment.

Club cricket

There are over 7,000 clubs in England and Wales that offer cricket for male and female players.

Joining your local club gives you the opportunity to play and compete at a level that suits your ability and lifestyle.

Whether you're just starting out in the game, or looking to advance your development at a higher level of competition, you'll be able to find a local club to fit your needs.
