Support your employees to lead heathier lives with the Workplace Health Needs Assessment!

Valuing employee health and wellbeing can bring a wide range of benefits to a business or organisation. Healthier employees are more productive, take less sickness leave, show greater staff morale, and are generally happier and less stressed.

With a lack of time, knowledge and confidence being barriers to leading or promoting a healthy lifestyle, Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport (LRS) are here to support your workplace to make health and wellbeing a priority. There is free* support available through the Wellbeing @Work programme, including access to a Workplace Health Needs Assessment**, a tested tool to identify key priority areas of health and wellbeing and help businesses to begin developing action plans and strategies to support employees to lead healthier lives.

Find out how environment and design consultants FPCR, have utilised Wellbeing @Work to make positive changes to their staff health and wellbeing offer.

FPCR are design and environmental consultants based in Lockington, North West Leicestershire, who's skills combine master planning, environmental assessment, urban design, landscape, ecology, architecture, arboriculture and green infrastructure.

FPCR completed a Workplace Health Needs Assessment (WHNA) with their 130 staff in March 2019, with the support of Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport (LRS).

They decided to complete a WHNA in order to better understand the needs of the staff and make the practice a healthier and even happier place. In May, the team at FPCR met with LRS to discuss their results and identify their next steps.

"We found the results interesting. Some confirmed what we expected, but other points were surprising." The report made them realise that "whilst we have a solid group of very health conscious staff that take place in regular sport and activity, there was a group that wanted to, but were not quite managing to get started."

Over the last few months, FPCR have instigated a Couch 2 5K running group, led by a couple of members of staff, who the group would consider "people like them" and who "make the group seem less daunting" to a beginner. The group is now training to complete their first parkrun. The aim is to follow this with a more beginner orientated lunchtime fitness class.
