Behind the TV screens and the world class athletes, a huge number of business from all sectors will play a part in making this happen ranging from construction, transport, telecoms and HR to the creative industry, laundry, signage and many more.

Businesses are invited to come along to the event on the 4th December to equip themselves with the information and knowledge to understand the process and produce winning bids. Book a place and find out how you can support our neighbours in Birmingham and make the most of these opportunities in the Midlands.

On the day Viren Gandhi, Head of Procurement, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will provide detail of the games and the opportunities, we will then hear from Chris Hobson, Director of Policy and External Affairs, from the Chamber, who will host a question and answer session on how we ensure that SME's, which make up the majority of businesses across the Midlands, can get involved and win new business.

Ali Clements, Economy and Sport Growth Manager for Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport said "I would urge businesses to come along and hear first-hand from the Birmingham 2022 team and the East Midlands Chamber. This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity and this could be the step which takes your business on an exciting journey. The games are expected to generate £750 million into the local economy. Come along to find out how you and your business can get involved."

Chris Hobson from the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce said: "The Commonwealth Games will not only be a great event for the Midlands, but will also provide a plethora of opportunities for local businesses to get involved. The contracts that underpin putting on something of this magnitude are vast and varied and the more local businesses can benefit from the delivery of the Games the better. This session will give businesses the knowledge and tools they need to support them to be competitive when bidding for these contracts."

Kevin Harris, Chair of the LLEP, said: "The vast majority of businesses across Leicester and Leicestershire are micro businesses employing 10 people or less. They may be small but they are the generators or our economic prosperity by providing lots of jobs and fresh ideas.

"These small businesses are also an essential part of the supplier network for the Commonwealth games and play a crucial role in contributing to its success. No matter what the product or service is, from sandwich makers to clothing providers, suppliers will be sought to bid for contracts. This event will showcase the opportunities available for local businesses".
