The COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent lockdown, has had an impact on all walks of life, but many people have used it as an opportunity to find new and innovative ways to be active, despite facilities such as gyms, parks, and leisure centres being inaccessible. For many, it's meant exploring their local area for walks and bike rides, finding new places to exercise right on their doorstep, using space at home to join in with virtual exercise classes, or spending time with family playing in the garden.
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) are looking for local Champions (families and individuals) to be the face of our new movement, Active Together, by telling their story about how they have stayed active throughout lockdown (and beyond as restrictions ease), including what has motivated them, and how they have overcome any barriers that might have stopped them from being active.
If you, your family, or someone you know, have a story to tell that you think would inspire and motivate others to become more physically active, please complete the short template attached to the bottom of this page, and return via email to [email protected] with the subject title 'Local Champion'.
Please feel free to forward this link on to any partners, organisations, individuals, and communities that you work with who may be able to support our county and city-wide search for local Champions.
