On the 25 January, there will be a special forum for coaches, allowing them to share their experiences in a safe and secure space. Coaches can register to attend by heading to storiesmatter.co.uk.
Coaches who can't attend the forum can upload their story by making a video or submitting a piece of writing.
UK Sport and the home country sports councils (Sport England, Sport Northern Ireland, sportscotland and Sport Wales) commissioned consultancy firm AKD Solutions to conduct the significant research project to explore race and racism in sport.
As well as coaches, the campaign is seeking contributions from grassroots to elite participants, officials, volunteers, staff, parents and peers.
UK Coaching Director of Coaching Emma Atkins, said:
As the lead charity for coaching in the UK, we are fully committed to ensuring diversity, equality and inclusion are at the heart of our culture, and embrace our responsibility to fight prejudice in the sport and physical activity industry. This includes supporting our partners in their endeavours to rid overt and systemic racism.
"The nation's coaching workforce is increasingly diverse, with around 18% of active coaches from a black, Asian or minority ethnic background. It's important for us to hear how we can do better to support more people to join and thrive in the coaching community, so we're asking our coaches to share their stories with this project. Coaches can do this safely through the forum or by submitting a written piece via the Stories Matter website.
"Through our own consultations, research projects and work with our Diversity Expert Group, we're shaping our knowledge and understanding to continue to serve the coaching family and tackle inequality."
#TellYourStory plans to collate the experiences of 600 participants and produce a report that helps the sports councils and other organisations learn and deliver informed actions and recommendations; stamping out racism and building a sporting community that truly reflects the diversity of society.
