Healthy Place Making is Here!

The built and natural environment that surrounds us can have a significant influence on our health, yet understanding exactly how it affects us is not always easy - and that's where Healthy Place Making comes in.

Healthy Place Making hosts a range of content - including design guidance, case studies, evidence and image galleries - to help people involved in placemaking (such as planners, developers, public health professionals etc.) to explore ideas that could be used to support our local places across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.

This innovative website is about more than just finding useful information too. Users can create their own bespoke project boards and save their favourite content to them, helping to create their own vision of a healthy place, and what's more, these can be shared between colleagues or organisations to support collaborative working to deliver better places.

www.healthyplacemaking.co.uk is the result of extensive engagement with colleagues across the built environment system. Further content and features will continue to be added moving forward to ensure it becomes increasingly useful in delivering healthier outcomes for residents and communities.

Joe Hall, Sports Facilities Development Officer at Active Together, added:

"Supporting people to be physically active is about more than just specialist sport and fitness facilities. Our lifestyles significantly influence our health, including whether or not we move more, and the places we live, work and play have a crucial part in that. This new online resource is designed to provide easy and practical access to best practice content to support Healthy Place Making.

The platform is in its infancy, so we encourage all visitors to Healthy Place Making to provide us with feedback and suggestions via the contact form on the website so we can continue to shape something that is user-led and really able to make a difference".
