The LTA Tennis Foundation announced a major cash boost for a range of tennis projects on Wednesday, and a Leicestershire tennis club were one of the small amount of organisations or tennis charities recognised nationally. Hinckley Town Tennis club were awarded the funding for their innovative 'Feel Good Tennis Programme' which provides children and adults across Leicestershire a mixed movement, tennis and wellbeing programme held over six, ninety minute sessions.

The Feel Good Tennis Programme has already been trialled at Westfield School in Hinckley, with a further trial scheduled for staff within the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust in June. Hinckley Town Tennis Club, has brought together local tennis and wellbeing professionals to provide an all-round mind and body programme in a safe, welcoming environment.

Neil Roberts, Chairman of Hinckley Town Tennis Club said: 'We are delighted to be working with the LTA Tennis Foundation to deliver this fantastic tennis and wellbeing programme to the people of Leicestershire. Supporting our community in any way we can is at the heart of what we do, whether that is working with schools, colleagues in the NHS or referrals via local volunteer groups. We are really excited to bring this new programme to our community over the next two years.'

LTA Tennis Foundation Chair, Tim Lawler MBE said: "By collaborating with other charities and third sector organisations the foundation is challenging the status quo, looking for opportunities to invest in new and innovative projects that will make a real difference through tennis. It's fantastic to see such brilliant projects and organisations in line to receive vital funding which will enable many more people to share in the enjoyment and benefits of taking part in tennis. We want to use our sport to make a real difference to people.'
