Our new Sport Welfare Officer (SWO), Gillian Haluch, is working in partnership with other Sport Welfare Officers (SWOs) from across the East Midlands to provide the best support and guidance to club welfare officers, coaches, committee members and volunteers across sports and physical activity organisations in the region.
The Sport Welfare Officer network is funded by Sport England and works alongside National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sport, and other key partners such as the NSPCC's Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and the Ann Craft Trust.
As a region, we are launching the East Midlands Sports Welfare Forum on Facebook.
The forum is a space for Club Welfare and Safeguarding Officers, coaches, committee members and anyone volunteering or working in sports or physical activity clubs to come together to learn and share best practice. It will include:
- Local training opportunities
- Knowledge, information and updates on safeguarding and welfare topics
- Resources and templates
- Questions and discussion forum
- Sharing of best practice and ideas
- Live events and webinars

Save the Date: the first East Mids Forum live webinar is taking place on Wednesday 6th November 6:30pm - 7:30pm to introduce the forum and what is planned going forward. Booking information coming soon.
