'Let's Get Moving' Together Fund - deadline 31.1.23

Utilising Sport England's Together Fund, we are seeking to identify local groups and organisations that can deliver physical activity and sport opportunities to priority communities as they recover from the pandemic and due to the cost of living crisis.

Key Information

- Projects much be based in Leicester City, Leicestershire or Rutland and benefit residents in these areas.

- Projects need to work with one or more of the following priority groups; Lower Socio-Economic Groups (LSEG), Black, Asian Minority Ethnic Communities, Disabled People, People with Long Term Health Conditions.

- The maximum amount of funding is £10,000. However our average funding support is in the region or £3,000- £5,000.

- New applications will be considered and assessed on a first come first served basis until 31st January 2023.

SMB Group Employer Forum Event - 11th January

SMB College are hosting a Sport & Uniform Services Employer Skills Forum at the Brooksby Campus on 11th January 2023.

Please join this session for a chance to network with likeminded employers which will inspire and inform students of the rewarding career opportunities available in your industry, whilst addressing the skills / knowledge shortage of the sector.

There will also be an update on Education Reforms with particular emphasis on T Levels and what this will mean for you…


Loughborough College Employer Engagement Event - 16th January

Loughborough College are hosting an employer event on Monday 16th January 2023. This is an opportunity for employers and volunteering organisations to build their relationship with the nationally recognised Sport department at Loughborough College.


Business of Sport - Informal peer support session - 27th Jan 9.30- am

This session will provide a chance to connect with other people running businesses, clubs and organisations in the sport and physical activity sector in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The focus will be on sharing our current challenges and exploring ways to overcome these together.

This session will be held at SportPark, Loughborough. A Leicester session is also being planned for a different date.


Leaderboard Programme

Are you interested in moving into a leadership role in local sport and physical activity?

The FREE Leaderboard programme led by Active Together, Sporting Equals and Leicester University will help train local people from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

The programme aims to open up pathways to positions on boards of directors and governance of local sports clubs, as well as voluntary director roles on boards of sport governing bodies.

The leadership programme runs from January to June 2023 and is recruiting now. The closing date for applications is Friday 13th January.


Cost of Living Resources for Businesses

The cost of living and doing business is a real challenge right now. Government departments have developed a number of resources to help your business continue to trade and build resilience for the future.

Energy and Carbon – information and support to help you and your organisation

There are a number of products and services which sport businesses and organisations may benefit from in order to tackle increased running costs, whilst also taking steps to have a positive impact on the environment. Some of these include:

*Energy for Business grants
*Information surrounding business rate exemptions on solar panels, heat pumps and other renewable equipment
*Carbon Footprint Calculators to aid SMEs in taking the first steps to measure, manage and reduce carbon emissions and therefore reduce energy cost.
*Advisory information for SMEs regarding the government's Energy Bill Relief Scheme.

Children’s activity levels recover to pre-pandemic levels

Children and young people's activity levels overall have recovered to pre-pandemic levels, with 47% of children meeting the Chief Medical Officers' guidelines of taking part in an average of 60 minutes or more of sport and physical activity a day.

Loughborough University host an annual Talk Sport Conference, aimed at talking to students who are interested in a career within the sports industry, and are looking for sports-based organisations to exhibit at the event.

 

FREE Mental Health Workplace support for organisations and businesses of any size

The Mental Health and Productivity Pilot launched in 2019 to encourage and help Midlands-based employers to support the mental health of the workforce and improve productivity has been extended to December 2023.

 

Active Together distributing 1,900 Activity Bags to LLR residents in need throughout Christmas
