It was nice to have a few days off over Christmas 🎄, I had time to catch up with my family, it's difficult when you train weekends. I'm now back in the gym and working towards my 2019 goals.
I've been re-selected for the East Midlands Squad this year, so I will look forward to training once a month at Loughborough University.
I can't believe 2018 is nearly over, it's been a year of change for me, but I couldn't be happier. This weekend we held our Christmas display 🎅🏻at Robin Hood, it was great fun and the Sheriff of Nottingham attended. I was selected to perform an individual performance on bars, I was a little nervous, as usually when you compete other gymnasts are performing at the same time, but this time all eyes were on me... thankfully I did a clean routine and was rewarded with cheers and applause 👏🏻😅 Happy Christmas everyone, and thank you Go Gold for your support this year.
Saturday marked my last competition of 2018, The Sandra Clarke Cup, which is an international competition organised and held at my gym Robin Hood in Nottingham. I was part of the East Midlands team, we came 6th overall. I was really pleased to be awarded bronze medals🥉 on floor & bars 😊, I was especially pleased with my bars medal as I've worked really hard to achieve this routine . Although competition season is now over, its back to the gym to keep working hard and pushing myself ready for The English and British Championships which are both held in March next year.

This weekend I travelled to Aldershot to take part in the Rushmoor Rosebowl 🌹I was part of the East Midlands Team, the competition has been running for 37 years and this year was the 1st time the East Midlands had entered a team, we were really pleased to come away with a bronze medal 🥉, it was nice to compete with my fellow go gold athlete Yoana, and we all enjoyed the gala dinner afterwards.
Training is going well, and I've made some good progress in my routines. I had a good training session with the East Midlands Squad at Loughborough university, and was happy to be selected to compete as part of the East Midlands Team at the Rushmoor Rosebowl 🌹 in a few weeks time. Thank you for my second funding cheque, it has been put to good use already as I have ordered some new handguards 😊 Yesterday I competed at the Pink ladies invitational in Durham not all my routines went to plan, but I came away with Gold on beam, silver on floor and bronze all around 😊🥇🥈🥉
Summer training is now over and it's back to school, and also the start of the competition season. We usually get the chance to try out our routines at 'invitationals' so last Friday was an opportunity to try some of my new skills at the Summer Sparkle Invitational hosted by The City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club, I was pleased with how it went. On bars I competed a brand new routine with 4 new skills, a shoot down, stalder half, endo and a shoot front dismount 😊. On beam I competed my Valdez flick layout for the 1st time , which is an upgrade from a flick layout ✅😀Now it's back to the gym and lots of hard work to keep pushing forwards and working on my consistency.
I've just returned from two weeks holiday and it's straight back to the gym, we train a few more hours during the holidays, but I still find time to meet up with friends. I have a competition at the end of this month, so I'm working really hard to get my routines ready. It's always really tough after a few weeks off, even though I conditioned on holiday and used the gym I'm feeling very sore at the moment and looking forward to a sports massage next week.
It's been a very hot few weeks in the gym ☀️ but I'm happy with my progress. Today I had a session with a fab choreographer Olivia, 💃🏻, it's really important to include lots of good choreography in your floor and beam routine, as you are marked for artistry as well as tumbles, leaps and spins. It's been a while since I had a session with Olivia, so it was great to add a bit of extra sparkle ✨✨ to my routines ready for competition season. Last week I had a session with a sports psychologist which was really interesting and useful.
I've been working really hard in my new gym, it's helped that some of my team mates from my old club are their, and that my original coach Jemma is their too, my coaches have been working hard to rebuild my skills. I've been putting in lots of work on bars , and hoping to have some new skills ready for the competition season which doesn't start until September. We did our summer display today, it was also a fundraiser to help raise funds for improvements to RHGC , it was great fun, and I was honoured to receive an award for Hard Work . It's been a good week for awards, because on Thursday I received my PE award at school 🌟, I've already started my GCSE's and can't thank The Roundhill Academy enough for their ongoing support 😊
Yesterday was international handstand day, myself and a lots of other gymnasts attended an event arranged by the School of Calisthenics Nottingham, they were trying to break the world record of the most people holding a handstand at one time... sadly not enough people turned up but the sun 🌞 was shining and lots of fun was had by all.
Change is never easy, but last month I made the decision to move clubs and now train at RHGC, I've settled in really well and am feeling more positive and happy 😊 I'm working super hard in the gym, competition season doesn't start again until September time, so I'm playing with a few new skills at the moment, but will see how they progress.
I was also pleased to be awarded the prize for year 9 PE student of the year at my school The Roundhill Academy, so I'm looking forward to the presentation evening in June.
It's been a busy month in and out of the gym 😊 I was pleased to attend the GoGold presentation evening, I feel privileged to be part of the programme once again this year. I've already made use of my free leisure centre pass, thank you South Charnwood Leisure Centre 🏊♂️ My club also held their very 1st awards evening, it was a great evening, and I was awarded WAG Senior most hard working gymnast 💪🏻🏆.
I'm the gym I'm working hard on my new skills, and can't wait to show off my new routines in competition season. Last weekend I attended East Midlands Squad training at Loughborough University, it's was hard work but fun.
Last year was my toughest year in Gymnastics, I had a hip injury followed by lots of little niggling injuries, meaning I couldn't compete or progress as much as I wanted too, I also did a lot of growing, and in artistic gymnastics this can affect you especially bars, hopefully I've finished growing ! I'm happy to say that this year I have competed on all 4 pieces at 3 competitions (vault, bars, beam & floor), I've competed at the English Championships 🌹(33 all around) , Quatro Cup (3rd all around) & The British Championships 🇬🇧 (24th all around) , competition season is now over, and I'm working hard in the gym to upgrade my routines to achieve the scores I know I'm capable of. I have also been selected for the East Midlands Squad, we train once a month at Loughborough University. So onwards and upwards 😊
I had a really good time at the Go Gold Talent Camp, I especially enjoyed the sports psychology and took a lot of good ideas away, it was nice to meet lots of like minded people too. I've been working hard in the gym, and am really pleased with how things are going, so I will just keep on pushing forward.
It's been a disappointing month as I've picked up another injury 😬(Shin splint) this has slowed my training down as I haven't been allowed any impact , it's feeling a lot better now, and I bought some calf compression sleeves and they seem to be helping. I was really pleased to receive my 2nd funding cheque, and I'm looking forward to attending the GoGold talent camp next week.
I started back at school this week (year 9) it's so hard balancing school and training, my timetable means I will miss 2 English lessons a week, but hopefully with the support of my head teacher it will work out ok and I won't get behind. I'm still working hard in the gym building my routines ready for British Espoir in December.
After a nice few weeks on holiday in Spain 🇪🇸 with my family, it was back to training yesterday, it felt good to be back, my first few sessions will mainly be conditioning and base routines. We train longer hours in the holidays so most of my time will be spent in the gym. I'll be working hard and getting prepared for the competition season which starts at the end of September. Thank you for your continued support.
I've been working hard in the gym and starting to build back my routines in preparation for the competition season in September. I've also been working really hard on my hip physio and thankfully it's getting stronger. On Sunday I competed at Nottingham-shire County Champs, I competed beam only, which earned me a silver medal 🥈 I was really pleased with my performance as I still need to add my acro series back in. But it was good to compete again after a quiet 1st half of the year.
It's been a hot month in the gym, and I've been putting my LRS water bottle to good use ! I'm still training hard and doing my re-hab, and slowly re building my routines. My consultant has given the all clear for me to start sprinting a little, so I can start re building my full vault.
Competition season is now over until September, so I'm back in the gym working hard and building my routines back up. I've been training so hard that I needed new handguards ! ... thank you GoGold ! ... it was great to watch the European Championships on the TV, especially because Becky & Ellie Downie from my club Notts were competing, they are both fantastic role models to have in the gym.
On Friday 7th April I competed in my 1st competition of the year. I competed on bars and beam only as I'm still building back my routines due to a hip problem earlier in the year. I was really pleased to compete clean routines, and from a field of over 50 gymnasts I came 8th on bars and 6th on beam in England ! I was especially pleased as I was competing without my full skills.
I've been working really hard on my rehab/physio and was pleased to be given the go ahead to increase my training. I'm aiming to compete bars and beam at the English Championships in April at Loughborough University. Last weekend I travelled to Leeds with my coach Jemma and team mate Ramiyah to help with a performance clinic, I like to help progress coaching within my sport and helping at these clinics is a good way to do it.
The competition season isn't going to start how I expected, I'll be sitting the 1st few friendly competitions out due to a sore hip, but I'm really lucky to have the GB doctors and physio's looking after me, and in only a few weeks it's already getting stronger. I've still been working hard in the gym, especially on bars. I was also pleased to receive my free swimming pass this month, thank you GO GOLD.
Last Thursday I attended my 1st GB camp of the year at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire, with National coaches Amanda Reddin and Colin Still, along with my personal coach Jemma Wilson. I trained alongside the other 14 squad gymnasts from around the country. The 1st day was screening and testing, followed by lots of hard work training in the 2 days that followed. I worked really hard and am looking forward to my next Camp.
