The last weekend in April and a weekend in May I competed in the East Midlands Regional Swimming Championships at Corby.
I was really pleased with my swims, gaining medals and PB's.
My favourite events were the 200m Butterfly Final, where I went 2 seconds faster than the heats and won a gold medal 🥇
My 800m Freestyle I achieved a great PB to win gold and also Junior East Midlands Champion.
I really enjoyed hanging out with my squad friends poolside, having a laugh and eating popcorn!

I was nervous and excited to finally being able to swim my first full open meet in nearly 4 months. After my knee injury.
I really enjoy racing at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, I have some lovely memories!
Friday night I swam the 800m Freestyle. Really pleased with my PB and a Silver medal 🥈
Saturday and Sunday I swam a mix of events. Some PB's and some I was disappointed with.
I made the finals for the 100m and 200m Butterfly.
The 200m Butterfly Final I improved my time from the heats by 2 seconds and won a gold medal 🥇

The start of 2023 wasn't what I had planned!
Late January I fell on my right knee whilst playing netball at school. After a visit to A&E I was given crutches and told to rest.
I had 3 weeks off training, but continued to do my exercises set by my physio.
3 weeks ago I returned back to swimming, the first 2 weeks on reduced sessions.
Last night I tested out how strong my knee was when I competed in the Winter League gala for my base club - Leicester Sharks.
It was lovely to get back to competition swimming, after having to pull out of 2 events in January and February.
Looking forward now to next weekend where I will be swimming for East Midlands in the ESSA event.
Jessica 😀
On Friday 2nd December 2022 I travelled up to Ponds Forge in Sheffield to compete in the 200m Butterfly in the English Winter Short Course Nationals.
My entry time was 2.25.58 which was my pb from November. I had lots of support and encouragement from my coach and the others swimmers from my club.
I was determined to swim my best, and the last 50m of the race I pushed through to finish strong at the wall in a time of 2.22.67
I really enjoyed the day and it was a great end to the Short Course season.
Now I'm training hard for the Long Course season which starts in 2023.
Jessica 😀
