The Get Rutland Walking programme, developed in conjunction with local organisations and skilled volunteers, is made up of a variety of walking activities available to all different demographics in the community. The programme supports the recruitment and training of volunteers to utilise individual skills, empower people and keep all sessions safe and sustainable.
Activities include a Social Trail, nature inspired activities, and a range of local walking groups organised by supportive and experienced volunteers. An annual Walking and Cycling Festival takes place every year in May which features a variety of walking and cycling activities. These are free to attend and are suitable for all levels, including those just starting out or with long term health conditions.
This Case Study is taken from the Active Together Annual Review 23/24. The document provides a snapshot of the work of the Active Together Board, team and partners and what we have done in partnership to encourage the communities in Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland to be physically active and move more.
