Buggy Walks
A great incentive to just get out the house!
|
Active Mums Club Events page
|
The Active Mums Club buggy walks are a great place to meet other new mums and mums-to-be, and the conversations both during the walk and after have
been so valuable to many mums already. The walks are pushchair friendly and have a café near by for that all important cuppa. We are also open to
suggestions of new places to walk in the county, so if you have any great ideas, please let us know!
The walks are
free to join in and will be happening throughout the winter. In the case of inclement weather, a decision will be made on the day if the
walk will continue. However we will
always meet for the all important cuppa at the start/end point so even if the walk cannot go ahead please come and see us for a brew and a
chat.

Volunteer Walk leaders

Walk Leader Inquiry
|
Do you have what it takes to join our new Active Mums Army?
Our buggy walks in 2023 have been amazing, with lots of women attending with their babies, new friendships made and lots of coffee consumed!
In order to continue our walks in 2024 we are looking for new volunteer walk leaders who can deliver walks on behalf of the Active Mums Club. Mums,
Grandma's, Dads even. Anyone who can support our mums to be active and sociable!
What does it entail?
Becoming a walk leader is quite simple! You will be required to take part in a 1 hour workshop which will enable you to have the knowledge needed
to deliver a good walk. You can then decide when and where you want to deliver your walking group. Every week, fortnight or month, the choice is
yours! All we ask you to do is give us notice so we can help to promote.
What support will I get?
The Active Mums Club will support you in any way you need. If you need help at your first couple of sessions, we will be there. We will always
promote your walk through our website and social media accounts, including paid ads if necessary. Plus, you can always buddy up, so if there is
another amazing mum attending your walking group who wants to volunteer, we can train them too, which helps to share the work!
What's in it for me?
Before your first planned walk we will kit you out with an exclusive Active Mums Army T-Shirt and rucksack! Along with the satisfaction of knowing
that you will be helping local mums to connect and be active, and during a time and frequency of your choice.
How do I inquire about becoming a walk leader?
Click the inquiry button and send us a message if you have any additional questions or want to be involved!

Welcome to Our New Ambassador
|
Sweaty Mama Leicestershire South
|
Active Mums Club have recruited a number of Ambassadors from around Leicestershire. Ambassadors are qualified pre and post natal physical activity
instructors, alongside having a wide range of skills and knowledge to support mums and mums to be!
You may have seen on our socials we have welcomed a new amazing ambassador to our team.
Hi Everyone!
I'm Amie & I run Sweaty Mama sessions in Leicester South with my little girl, Mila, in tow!
Around 10 years ago I started my own weight loss and fitness journey, losing 8 stone in total. However whilst pregnant I struggled to continue
with my regular exercise routine, and I didn't have the knowledge to adapt it around my growing bump. Once my daughter was born, I struggled with
childcare and really noticed the effect that the lack of exercise had on my mental health.
I really do believe that so many other ladies find themselves in the same position, so I decided to qualify as a Fitness instructor and Pre &
Post natal specialist and launch Sweaty Mama. The sessions are Pre/Post Natal & Child friendly! So you can have fun, workout, and spend time
with your bump or baby!
Amie's post natal classes are based in South Leicestershire.
Give Amie a follow and
find a class local to you 😍

Menopause awareness Day
|
More Information
|
"Don't undervalue your strength, don't doubt yourself, and most importantly – embrace the
new you".
#WorldMenopauseAwarenessDay is celebrated on October 18th every
year, and aims to spread awareness about menopause, its symptoms, and the importance of supporting women going through this phase in life.
We're shining a light on this transition period and how engaging in regular aerobic and weight-bearing activity during menopause can help to manage
symptoms such as hot flushes, mood swings and weight gain.
Let's open up the conversation and support one another.
Visit:
Active Menopause | Active Together (active-together.org) for guidance on getting active during menopause, what activity may be best for your
symptoms, FAQs, and opportunities to engage with physical activity.

Active Pregnancy Foundation Report
|
In 2020, we launched our first 'Lockdown' survey - in fact, it was our breakout activity as a new charity. We went on to repeat the survey during
the second and third national lockdown periods and in doing so, captured the impact COVID-19 was having on pregnant and postnatal women's physical
activity engagement. You can therefore imagine our pride in being able to announce the publication of a report into our findings.
