My Coaching Course part 3

PART 3. Both me and Sandra were pretty ill with covid just so pleased we were fully vaccinated when we were feeling better I thought I'd make use of this extra practice time to help me prepare, I found a course at Newark Indoor Bowls Club which isn't far so I sent a message to coach bowls and asked if I could join this course and was told it was full but if the coach giving the course said yes then ok and I was lucky because it was Barry again so I was in. I would have to do both days again so when I joined the new team got back my paperwork which had been marked and given a pass so all I had to worry about now was the assessment it was good doing the first day again with no pressure really as I've already done it, the next day D-Day as I was driving to Newark I was running through what i was going to do and say in my head I just hope I got it right in the assessment when I arrived I said to myself you've got this, but as I went in to the club the butterflies started in my stomach and i was a lot more nervous than i thought I'd be I checked on the board and found I was last on the list to go I had to be a learner bowler for one of the others in the group for their assessment she was really nervous because she hasn't had to deal with a disabled person before so I told her before we started not to worry about my disability just concentrate on the way I bowl I think it made her feel less nervous and now only me to go now and Barry says right lunchtime.

So with lunch finished not that I ate much it was my go, I had placed four cones on the centre line at different lengths I ran through the safety information and we did some warm up exercises I then explained the lesson to the beginner the lesson went really well the 20 minutes flew past so I finished with warm down exercises I had to do some self assessment Barry then gave me his assessment at the end he said well done you've passed.
Wow I felt so proud of myself, with that my journey to become a bowls coach had ended, now I start the next step as one of the first disabled level one coaches in England
