Last Monday I never had any idea I was going to be given the chance to fulfil my dream, and when I saw the email I couldn't really believe it at first but after I'd read it twice more I thought wow oh yes I'm in. The email was from a member of Disability Bowls ENGLAND and said that because I was selected as captain of the team to play against Kenya which was cancelled I was being given the chance to play in a test match for England v Scotland. You cannot believe how I felt it was like Christmas morning lol I was so excited but then nervous thinking am I going to be good to play international standard players warming up for the commonwealth games. I didnt have long to get to nervous as I would be playing at Leamington Spa Bowls Club on Friday and Sunday it just worked out to be the same weekend that I had promised my DBE Pairs partner Daniel that I would play in a friendly at Griffin Outdoor Bowls Club on Saturday. So Thursday evening I get the team members and the times I will be playing, I will play two games on Friday the triples and 4's starting at 10 a.m and Sunday it's Singles and Pairs . I didn't sleep much Thursday night nerves + excitement so we got up just after 6 to double double check I had everything and set off to Leamington at 7 a.m we arrived at the bowls club and all the England squad, the Scotland squad and a team from Jersey were all arriving and get sorted out . So we got all my kit together and went to find my team and see where we'd be playing. My first game was the triples and I was number 2 the game started I think maybe I froze at first but after a few more ends I played better and was really enjoying it after 15 ends the score was a victory to Scotland, I was a bit disappointed by the start I made but Sandra reminded me that they are international players preparing for the games coming up soon. After lunch I was to play in the 4's at number 2 again this time I played so much better and as a 4 we kept the score very close and after the last end we had won by 1 shot , boy it felt amazing and the Scots 4 complimented us on our play. So that was the first day of my international dream was done..
