Get yourself a goal

I've been enormously proud to go out and about in my Active Together Champion hoodie. It's a visible reminder of the fact in the last 15 years or so I have transformed my mental and physical health by getting active in ways that I can and in ways that I enjoy.

It's always helped me to have a goal, and I would really recommend this to anyone. Sometimes it's helpful to have a goal for the next few days or weeks, alongside a longer term goal. That way, you can keep yourself going towards your long term target by achieving smaller goals along the way.

My goal for May was to increase the amount I was walking - easier now the evenings are lighter, and now my goals for June are to do 2 long distance walks with family. The first is 10 miles, and the second walk towards the end of June is over 30 miles. I will let you know how I get on!

The 10 mile walk is in the lovely Peak District, and is a walk for a charity that means a lot to our family. My inspiration for the day will be remembering my friend Liz. Doing an event for charity is a fantastic goal, as not only are you helping yourself, you're helping the charity too. Posting about a charity event you are doing on social media also holds you accountable- and makes you more likely to achieve it!

I hope you all have a lovely June - and get some goals set for yourself. You can do it!
