Disability Bowls England National Pairs Competition

On Saturday 16th July we traveled to Stoke Bowls Club in Coventry to play in DBE National Pairs Competition. When we arrived I met up with my new partner for the day Sally Ann who is a visually impaired champion bowler and her guide Jane , I just hoped I could play at her high standard I would definitely be giving it my best efforts. When the draw was made we were given a bye in the first round so would have a 2 HR wait to play so another cup of tea or two. So time to start came round and it was a hot sunny day so put on the sun cream got plenty of drinks and off we go , the green had some challenging lines and we got to grips with the game and led by 4 shots on the last end and after a heart stopping moment and a measure we won it by 1 shot , we were only 1 game from the final being held at Leamington Spa at the end of August, the semi final was a really good game against two of England and national champions Mike and Johnathan the game finished with the score at 9 - 9 so an extra end was needed and although Sally had 4 amazing bowls Mike got his bowl in to hold shot and I had the last bowl but I wasn't able to get in to win, so I felt so gutted to have got so close to winning but hopefully next time we will go one better. That's the great thing about sports there is always the next one. Once I had thanked Sally Ann for being my partner we headed home.
