Just keep on walking ….

In June I took part in two organised long distance walks, one with my daughter and one with my husband.

I enjoyed them so much. On both walks there were a lot of people taking part, and people of different levels of fitness walking different distances. All of the participants were so encouraging of each other and the volunteers who were marshalling the course cheered everyone on.

We got to see bits of the country we hadn't seen before and talked to lots of interesting people.

I blogged before about having a goal as an incentive to be more active, and planning to do an organised walk is a great goal. If you do a big organised walk, there is the added incentive of a medal and a free t-shirt, but starting to walk in your local area with others is just as good. The local councils in Leicester and Leicestershire organise walks in local parks on a regular basis which can really help you become more active, get to know your area and meet others and the summer is a great time to start!
