Yesterday at Market Overton Bowls Club it was Gala day, where teams of 3 from the club were joined by teams from other clubs,18 teams in all. My team was called the Spare Parts and was Me Jeannie and Mal. The teams were in 2 groups, group 1 had 10 teams and group 2 had 8 teams. We were in group 1 and started at 9.30 on a beautiful sunny morning and it was already becoming rather warm. I was leading the spare parts and as you can see I thought I'd add abit of colour to our team, each game was only 7 ends we started very well and came out winning 8 - 4, then we had a break while group 2 played so it gave us time for a drink and talk with other teams friends old and new. Game 2 was a strange game we were awful for the first 4 ends and we were 1 - 7 down and then it was like a light came on and we won the next 3 ends and drew 7-7. Now lunch time so we had a lovely lunch prepared by 3 lovely ladies from the club and while we ate group 2 played their 2nd games. After a great lunch and 2 pudding's game 3 started very well and we had a very solid display and won 12-3 so one more game to go, we were unbeaten and the temperature was now 34* degrees and I felt like I was melting lol, we began the last game thinking that if we won we would have a chance to finish 1st, we started the game well taking a 4 shot lead and after some great team bowling we won 8 - 4 then it was a wait for group 2 to finish, so time for a drink and a rest from the very hot green. Results time and it was so close …………… and after the scores were calculated and checked

The Spare Parts came in 2nd place by a 2 PT difference.

All in all it had been a great day with great people and the weather was very warm and draining but better than rain.

A big thank you to my teammates you played well, and I think we deserved to get 2nd well done. Next Year will go 1 better.
