My bowls life gets better and better

On Saturday 27th August I had the great honour to Captain the North team at Leamington Spa Bowls Club in the Margaret Smith MBE North v South Challenge Shield held during the Bowls England National Finals. The two teams made up of Disability Bowls England members from all parts of England. The teams played 18 ends and 5 rinks triples and 1 rink of 4s at the end of 18 ends the combined scores would decide the winners, on my rink I had the commonwealth bronze medalist Craig Bowler as no.1, Terry Boswell no.2 and me skip , opposite us for the South was Amanda Tucker no.1 commonwealth player Michelle White no.2 and Daniel Adams who is my pairs partner usually so I knew it would be a good game. We started slowly on my side and 7 ends we were 6 shots behind so we pulled ourselves together and slowly we got back level and after 17 ends we held a 2 shot lead so the last end we had a bit of luck and managed to score a 5 and won our game 22 - 15. And when all the scores were in team North had won the Challenge Shield by only a handful of shots. Then the proudest moment of my bowls life so far to be presented with the Margaret Smith MBE Challenge Shield as Captain of the winning team by Margaret Smith MBE herself. Awesome.
