My First England Cap

Part 1

On the 30th of August we travelled up to Ayr Scotland to play in a 2 day test match for England v Scotland a 5 and a half hours drive and once we had booked in to the hotel we went to Northfield bowls club for a practice session, then back to the hotel for a meal and team meeting, after we had eaten the team manager and captain welcomed us all and a special welcome for the 5 new cap players.

.Day 1

In the morning after breakfast I put on my England kit for the first time and felt so proud, we made our way to the bowls club for the warm up and Squad photos then we lined up on the green for the opening ceremony and for all the new players to receive their caps with their unique Squad number on it. I was the 5th one to be called forward to be presented with my cap from the England manager and my number 65. When I stood back in line I thought to myself how awesome it was to be playing in a team with these amazing elite bowlers, after the ceremony we all had a meeting with the coaches to tell us who we would be playing with and what position, I was to be lead in a triples match with Jonathan 2 and Mike skip (England captain) and after a nervous couple of ends from me I relaxed and played really well with great encouragement and help from my teammates we won by 21 to 9 and England won the morning session then we had lunch. The afternoon session of matches we played pairs and I was with another new cap player we both played really good bowls and it was a very tight match and went right to the last end and unfortunately the Scotland pairing managed to get get the winning shots to take the victory and Scotland won the afternoon so at close of play on the first day it was 1 - 1..Back at the hotel for the evening meal we had a team meeting to discuss the two sessions and the manager said how well we had all done and it was all to play for tomorrow then it was bedtime.
