My first England Cap

Part 2

Day 2

It was another beautiful morning on the 2nd day and again after breakfast we made our way back to the bowls club determined to try and get the win and take the trophy home. The morning matches were again triples but this time each 3 had a visually impaired player in each triple , so I was lead, Sally-Ann (VI) an excellent player who I've had the honour of partnering before 2 and Mike my pairs partner was skip these games were played over 3 sets of 6 ends. So we began quite well but lost the first set, so the pressure was on us now and we played really awesome shots to take the next 2 sets and win the match 2 - 1, but we were the only England triple to win so Scotland now led 2 - 1, after another lovely lunch put on by the bowls club it was the final pairs matches. So it all came down to the next 6 games of 15 ends, again it was me and Mike playing together and what a great game we had it was neck and neck all the way to the last end when we were 1 shot behind but holding the 1 shot to draw the game with the Scotland skip to play the last bowl, we held our breath as the bowl headed towards the end and unluckily for him it push one of our bowls in to make it 2 shots so we had won by 1 shot we were so happy we high 5ed and hugged each other lol. My 3rd win out of 4 games in my first international, I was totally blown away and so proud of us both. But unfortunately we only managed to win 3 of the 6 matches so it was half a point each so the final score was... Scotland 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 England so Scotland won the first Bob Love test match trophy. After the closing speeches we said our thanks and congratulations to all the Scotland players and headed back to the hotel and had dinner then a last team meeting where we thanked each other and congratulations how close we came and I thanked the manager and captain for making me so welcome and the support and encouragement it was such an amazing experience with great players but also wonderful people it really is like family. And now to top it all I have the chance to play for England at the International Bowls for the Disabled World Championship 2024 to be held in South Africa next May wow, only a little thing is that it is totally self funding so I have to get about £3000, so I have a funding page and am looking for Sponsorship to big an opportunity to miss. Thank you for reading and I hope to share alot more with you soon.
