Meet Josef

Playing dodgeball and staying active helps Josef overcome his eating disorder.

Let's Get Moving Landscape

Josef from Leicester City

Dedicated to the world of dodgeball, Josef is not only a passionate player but also a committed coach at club, regional, and national levels. Their week is a dynamic mix of rigorous training sessions and intense weekend competitions, taking them across the UK. Balancing this demanding schedule proves to be a challenge, particularly with two full-time jobs.

Behind the scenes, Josef faces an additional hurdle – an ongoing battle with an eating disorder. Despite the daily struggles, the commitment to staying active in the world of dodgeball serves as a powerful tool for managing and eventually overcoming this disorder. Josef firmly believes in the transformative impact of dodgeball and staying physically active, not just as a player and coach but also as a crucial part of their personal journey toward wellness.

At the end of spring 2025 I was crowned champion of men's national league 3, receiving a gold medal with an unbeaten record of 18 wins - 0 losses, and further promoted to men's national league 2. Due to my performance, I received and accepted an offer from Coventry (formerly UK top 8 team) to play in the men's national League 1, hopefully assisting their promotion back to Super League next year (UK Top 12).

Also, I captained the first ever Leicester Foam Squad in the UK Foam League (UK Top 10) beating Sheffield. Sadly due to injuries, our team came last in the standings and was demoted. We had better luck in League 1, beating Leamington and Nottingham but still did not medal. We hope to start next season strong with a brand new team this October.
