Meet Samantha

Sam is inspiring other mums to make time for themselves

Samantha from North West Leicestershire

Physical activity has become a key part of Sam's life, after initially becoming active in 2020.

Whether it be walking her children to school, a quick dumbbell session during her lunch break or even dancing round the living room at the end of the day to get her steps in, all these things contribute to make her a better and happier mum, friend and colleague.

As a life long anxiety sufferer, and after suffering the devastating loss of her mum in 2022, being active has been even more important to help boost her mood and safeguard her mental health.

Sam wants people to see that you don't have to be an expert to move to improve your health and wellbeing, and believes that "everyone starts somewhere, and we can all find something we enjoy to make part of our daily routine".

Who is your biggest inspiration/role model?

My clients. These women (and some men) are pushing through their own barriers to keep active, pushing right out of their comfort zone and smashing it week in, week out.

Where is your favourite place to be active and why?

Slightly biased but Cattows Farm. I love training outdoors and the scenery is incredible.

For you, what is the best by-product of being active?

The boost to my mental health. I know that if I am struggling, keeping active will help put me in a better place and get the endorphins flowing.

What is your one top tip for others looking to be more active?

It is a marathon not a sprint. Decide on one small change that you can stick to, and when you've mastered that, make another small change. Pretty soon you will have transformed your whole life.
